BOWLING COMPLETES WEEKEND AT SUNSHINE STATE CLASSIC

ORLANDO, FL – The Monmouth University bowling team participated in the Sunshine State Classic hosted by Stephen F. Austin and Sacred Heart this weekend at Boardwalk Bowl in Orlando, FL.

Monmouth finished in 11th overall at the three-day event, which included victories over No. 2 ranked Vanderbilt and No. 18 ranked Maryville.

Junior Kyla Day led the Hawks individually as she averaged 207.80 over five traditional games. Day's performance earned her a sixth place finish among all competitors.

- The #22 ranked Hawks defeated #3 Vanderbilt 997-996 on Saturday in traditional play.
 - Monmouth also defeated #18 Maryville and Bethune-Cookman in baker format.
- The Hawks went 2-1 in championship play with wins over Florida A&M and Praire View A&M.
- Monmouth now has seven top-10 wins for the 2018-19 season. 
- Of the Hawks' 13 matches, seven were against ranked opponents, where they picked up a pair of victories.

NUMBERS CRUNCH 
- Monmouth's highest pin total in baker format was 998 against Bethune-Cookman.
- Junior Kyla Day posted a career-high and team weekend high game of 248 in traditional match play. She now has nine 200+ games on the season and has registered at least two 200+ games in three straight competitions.
- Sophomore Erin Ohta had a career-high game of 204.
- Freshman Saige Yamada posted a career-high game of 211.
- Senior Haley Solberg bowled a high game of 237 and her two 200+ performances increase her season total to 10.
- Over the weekend, Monmouth averaged 182.5 pins per game, which ranked 10th overall.

NEXT UP
Monmouth continues its season on Feb. 23 when it travels to Greensboro, NC to compete in the two-day MEAC Meet #2 at AMF All Star Lanes.
